GULDER USA ENSEMBLE is based in the Washington, DC area and specializes in Kazakh folk dance with traditional and modern elements as well as other central Asian and middle eastern dances. “Gulder” from Kazakh language translates as “flowers” and was created in 2017, has since participated in multiple international festivals, including cultural events organized by the World Bank, the George Washington University, the Silk Road Dance Company, Kazakh-American communities in different states, and the Persian Nowruz festival.  The group has also appeared on Kazakh TV and Iranian International TV on several occasions. The group’s choreographer, Zarina Alim, has extensive experience in folk, ballet, and modern dance.  All members of the group are very passionate about dance, though they want to demonstrate the colorful culture of Central Asia to the people in the US and other countries.

The Choreographer & Artistic Director of GULDER USA ENSEMBLE is Zarina Alim.
Zarina Alim is the visionary choreographer and artistic director behind GULDER USA, a Kazakh and Central Asian dance ensemble that has flourished under her leadership for over eight inspiring years. With more than 25 years of experience spanning classical ballet, modern dance, Kazakh, Central Asian, and Middle Eastern styles, Zarina had the joy of teaching students from around the world, including the USA, Canada, and Kazakhstan
what makes her to continue this work is her dedication to nurturing each student’s unique talents. She provides personalized attention; care, motivation, and cultural immersion, helping them grow not only as dancers, but also as individuals.

Her ensemble has proudly represented Kazakhstan at major international festivals and cultural events across the U.S., particularly in the DMV area, captivating audiences with vibrant traditions and powerful storytelling through movement.
Zarina’s mission goes beyond choreography—she is deeply committed to nurturing the unique potential of each student. Whether teaching children or adults, she provides personal guidance, cultural insight, and opportunities to perform on grand stages. Her work is rooted in passion, purpose, and a profound love for sharing the richness of Kazakh heritage with the world.
