Background – Why do we Care
The idea for KCBANA started from grassroots campaigns and efforts within the local Kazakh-American community that stemmed from the sincere desire to give back to our Motherland. As a group of private enthusiasts and volunteers, we ran several charitable campaigns and collaborated with non-profit organizations in the US and Kazakhstan to help our fellow countrymen in difficult times, including orphans, children with special needs, critically ill people, victims of natural disasters, housefires and other struggles. During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, while conducting crowdfunding and acquiring medical supplies to aid doctors and patients in Kazakhstan, we realized that such efforts would be significantly more effective on behalf of an official non-profit charitable organization registered in the US.
We also believe it is extremely important to raise global awareness and understanding of Kazakh history, culture, and modern day society. As volunteers, we have already organized and participated in various international festivals, cultural and educational events in the Washington, DC area representing our heritage. We intend to continue promoting a balanced and truthful picture of Kazakhstan in North America and the world, at large.
Another fundamental cause of KCBANA was the need to promote cooperation between various Kazakh communities in North America. There are multiple wonderful Kazakh organization and associations in the US, Canada, and Mexico that are all independently doing many important and useful things. However, while talking with their representatives from other states and Canada we heard that they all feel disconnected from each other and that there is a real need in finding a way to come together and combine our efforts. That is why we decided to create this website that would help Kazakh communities in North America to effectively communicate with each other, support local businessmen, new immigrants, students, visitors from Kazakhstan and any organization or individuals interested in Kazakhstan by providing a centralized hub of useful information, interactive map of local Kazakh businesses and organizations, and other collaboration tools.
